2023 Woodside Chardonnay

2023 Woodside Chardonnay 

29 year-old vineyard in Woodside, 368m above sea level. Hand-picked Bernard Clone 95, whole bunch pressed into high-quality French 500L Puncheons (50% new), undergoing wild yeast ferment and natural malolactic fermentation. Regular lees stirring was undertaken. Unfined and unfiltered. Bottled in February 2023 after 10 months in barrel. Unfined and unfiltered. Only 90 cases made. 13% alcohol.

Tasting Notes

The nose reveals enticing notes of lemon curd, grapefruit, flint and hint of vanilla essence. On the palate the citrus fruit is accompanied by the subtle oak influence from 50% new barrels - baking spices and mascarpone cheese. The mouth feel is a great combination of textured creaminess with a long line of acidity that  coats the side of the mouth.
